Art Galleries in Europe Worth Venturing To

Shalom Lamm believes there are many art galleries in Europe that should be seen if one ventures to Europe. The adventures and artistry to be seen can vary from city to city. Starting in one city and going to the next, the galleries can range from the known to the less known, but still have the most impressive forms of artwork. The galleries will start in Paris, then to Florence, London, and then Vatican City.

Paris

Louvre Museum

While venturing in Paris, make some time to venture to the Louvre Museum. This is possibly one of the most famous galleries in the world. The Lourve Museum once served as a royal palace to French Kings. It later on became available to the public and is most known for housing one of the most famous pieces of art, which is Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

Musée d’Orsay

The Musée d’Orsay is located in Paris on the left bank of the Seine. This gallery houses art from both the 1800s and 1900s. The collection includes art from many genres such as paintings, sculptures, and photographs. The architecture of the building itself should also be marveled at.

Florence

The Uffizi Galleries

The Uffizi Gallery houses the world’s finest collection of Italian Renaissance paintings. The building was constructed in the 1500s designed by Giorgio Vasari. Michelangelo’s only free-standing painting calls the Uffizi Gallery home. It is fascinating that most of the art housed in this gallery was donated.

Accademia Gallery

The Accademia Gallery is where Michelangelo’s David is currently standing. This is the most famous sculpture here in the Gallery. This gallery will take about 1 to 2 hours to explore. There is also an array of Renaissance art to see.

London

National Gallery

The best part of this gallery is that admission is free and is located in Trafalgar Square. This gallery houses more than 2300 pieces of art. The pieces range from the 13th century all the way to the 20th century. The architecture of the building is equally seen as artwork.

Tate Modern

This is located in London and is considered the best of modern art museums in London. There are actually four galleries that are located in London, Liverpool, and Cornwall. It houses international and British modern artwork. This is considered one of the most visited contemporary art galleries.

Vatican City

Sistine Chapel

The most famous of all the famous galleries is the Sistine Chapel. The architecture is one to be seen by every person visiting. The ceiling was painted by Michaelangelo and it took him four years to complete. However, the most famous artwork at the Sistine Chapel is not the ceiling but The Creation of Adam.

Vatican Museums
The Vatican Museums is a collection of artwork collected from the Catholic Church. There are over 70,000 pieces of artwork housed here in the Vatican Museums. There are a total of 54 museums to visit under the Vatican Museums. Shalom Lamm encourages people to see as many as they can.
